# Tremendous
Fulfill referral rewards automatically with Tremendous. Winners pick their own gift card or prepaid Visa from hundreds of brands.
Tremendous is a reward fulfillment method for GrowSurf referral programs. When a participant unlocks a connected reward, GrowSurf sends them a Tremendous reward email and the winner picks what they want.
You connect from inside GrowSurf. There is no Tremendous signup to do first and no API key to copy anywhere.
## Requirements
* A referral program. Tremendous is not available on affiliate programs.
* Tremendous reviews every new account before it can send anything. This usually takes a business day or two. You can set your rewards up while you wait.
* Rewards are paid from a Tremendous balance you fund yourself. Gift cards and prepaid cards cost face value with no Tremendous fee.
* Rewards can use the currencies Tremendous supports. New rewards start with your program's currency, and you can choose a different currency for each recipient side.

**One account for your whole team**
Connecting sets up a single Tremendous account for your GrowSurf team, shared by every program you run. A second program shows an already-connected card: turn it on, pick your rewards, and you are done. No second signup, no second balance.

## How It Looks to Your Winners
Your winner gets an email with the reward amount and a redemption button. The sender name is your company name.
Clicking it opens the redemption page.
From there the winner chooses a gift card or a prepaid Virtual Visa.
## How to Set Up

**Start the connection**
Go to *Program Editor > 4. Options > Integrations* and open the Tremendous card. For your team's first connection, choose USD, EUR, or GBP for your Tremendous balance, then click *Connect to Tremendous*. A Tremendous page opens in a new tab. Your team keeps this balance currency on every program and when you reconnect.

**Enter your company details on Tremendous**
Fill in the company information Tremendous asks for and add a payment method. GrowSurf never sees your card. Come back to the Tremendous card and click *Refresh*.

**Wait for approval**
Tremendous reviews the account before it can send gift cards. The card tells you where you stand, and nothing is sent to anyone until the review clears. You can close the page and come back later.

**Turn it on for this program**
Once you are approved, click *Turn on for this program*.

**Connect a reward**
Click *Connect a Reward*, pick the reward you want Tremendous to fulfill, choose who gets the gift card, and set the amount and currency. The currency starts with your program's currency. If both the referrer and referred friend get a gift card, each can have a different amount and currency. Anytime a participant unlocks that reward, GrowSurf emails them a Tremendous reward for that amount.

**Add funds**
Click *Add Funds* on the Tremendous card. That opens Tremendous, where you add money and manage payment methods.

**Dynamic rewards**
Dynamic rewards let you send different amounts based on attributes of the referred friend or the referrer. For example, send `$50` when a referral signs up for your base plan and `$100` when they sign up for a higher plan.

If your Tremendous balance runs out, your winners do not get their reward emails. GrowSurf keeps the reward and you can retry it once you add funds. See [Retrying failed rewards](#retrying-failed-rewards).

## What Winners Can Redeem
GrowSurf offers gift cards and prepaid cards only, from hundreds of brands. Both cost face value, so a `$50` reward costs you `$50`.
You do not pick the brand. Your winner does, when they redeem.
## Turning Tremendous Off
*Disconnect* on the Tremendous card turns Tremendous off for that program only. Your Tremendous account, your balance, and your other programs are not affected.
To remove GrowSurf's access entirely, disconnect it from inside Tremendous. That stops gift cards on every program.
## Taxes
A Tremendous gift card counts as a reward you paid directly, the same as any other gift card reward. If you have [Tax Forms and 1099 filing](/compliance/tax-forms-and-1099-filing.md) turned on for your program, GrowSurf counts the reward value toward the winner's yearly total and holds the reward until their W-9 or W-8 is on file.
## Troubleshooting
If a reward email cannot be sent, GrowSurf emails the program owner. The reason also appears on the participant's detail page and in their activity logs.
Common causes:
* Your Tremendous balance is too low to cover the reward.
* Your Tremendous account has not been approved yet.
* GrowSurf lost access to your Tremendous account. The card shows a *Reconnect* button. Reconnecting keeps your balance, your company details, and your approval.
* Dynamic reward rules are enabled and no rule matched.
* Tremendous rejected the recipient email address.
### Retrying failed rewards
Fix the underlying problem (typically low funds), then click *Retry Rewards* on the Tremendous card in *Program Editor > 4. Options > Integrations*. GrowSurf checks each reward against Tremendous before it resends, so a winner never gets paid twice.
## FAQ
**Do I need a Tremendous account before I start?**\
No. Click *Connect to Tremendous* in GrowSurf and you set the account up as part of that flow.
**Do I have to connect again for each program?**\
No. The account belongs to your GrowSurf team. Other programs show an already-connected card, and you turn Tremendous on with one click.
**Can I use Tremendous and Tango Card on the same program?**\
Yes, but connect each reward to one of them. A reward connected to both would pay the winner twice.
**Can I use Tremendous on an affiliate program?**\
No. Tremendous fulfills referral program rewards. For affiliate commission payouts, use [PayPal](https://docs.growsurf.com/integrations/paypal) or [Wise](https://docs.growsurf.com/integrations/wise).
**What currency are rewards sent in?**\
Choose from the reward currencies Tremendous supports. Your team's balance can be in USD, EUR, or GBP, independently of the reward currency. Winners choose from the eligible gift cards available in their country. Tremendous converts between currencies when needed. GrowSurf accepts up to two decimal places where its currency rules allow them, including for KWD. Some currencies require whole amounts.
**What happens if a winner never redeems?**\
The reward stays unredeemed until it expires, and the funds stay in your Tremendous balance. The expiration date is on the reward email.
**Does GrowSurf see my Tremendous balance?**\
Yes. GrowSurf reads your balance so it can warn you before a reward fails. It never sees your payment method, and it never moves money out of your account except to send a reward you configured.
